As getting closer to the Persian New Year, Iranians in different cities are getting ready to celebrate the auspicious occasion.

People in Kermanshah are preparing for the New Year by buying new clothes and the traditional stuff needed for Haftseen.

Haftseen (seven words initiating with /S/) is a traditional table that symbolizes life, fertility and love as a whole, and requires all members of the family to gather around at the moment the New Year begins.

Haftseen usually includes apple (Seeb) as symbol of beauty and love, garlic (Seer) as symbol of health, vinegar (Serkeh) as symbol of progress and change, sumac (Somaq) as symbol of patience, wheat pudding (Samanu) as symbol of abundance, sprouts (Sabzeh) as symbol of rebirth, and Russian Olive (Senjed) as symbol of stability and strength.

Kermanshah is the capital of Kermanshah Province, located 525 kilometers from Tehran in the western part of Iran. With a population of more than 1,000,000, Kermanshah has a moderate and mountainous climate.
